Picking Damask roses in Iran’s Qom: Photos

Farmers in Iran’s Qom Province are currently busy picking Damask roses.

Ordibehesht, the second month of the Persian calendar, which began on April 21, is when the harvest of Damask roses gains momentum, and subsequently the process of making rose water flourishes.

Each year, some 14 provinces in Iran host ceremonies for making rose water. They take place between April and the end of June, depending on the weather.

Here are some photos that show farmers picking Damask roses in orchards of Qom and part of the process of making rose water.
