The main cast of Iranian television series 'Next Door Neighbors' has come together to feature in a music video lip-syncing to a song whose lyrics are adapted from the poetry of world-renowned Persian poet Rumi.
The song performed by Mohsen Chavoshi and titled 'Thousands of Dreams' is themed on the love of God and highlights that the material world is worthless and should be abandoned before reaching immortality.
The music video features male and female stars of 'Next Door Neighbors' including Pejman Jamshidi, Roya Teymourian, Homayoun Ershadi, Farhad Ayeesh, Vishka Asayesh, Gohar Kheirandish, Azadeh Samadi, and Reza Naji.
The fusion of Rumi's poetry in this music video is quite creative.
You can watch the video and read a translation of the lyrics below.
O the encompassing righteousness
Who are You, then?
Where are You, Our Garden’s flower?
Lily did not show You in a thousand languages
Lily told me not to ask her except for prayer and praise
The tall cypress cannot be as elevated
If Daffodil had eyes, he could have never seen You
People and monsters are lined up in every corner to see You
Nonetheless, they are not allowed in Your tavern
I seek my survival in Your compassion
Am I ever deceived by the material world?
I used to have thousands of dreams
Yet Your love made them null for me
You are my comfort upon my suffering
You are my treasure in my poverty
I’m prostrating and praying to You
Saying that Your love is everything to me
The sound of love is reaching us from left and right
We’re ascending toward God
Who wants to behold this?
We used to live in heaven
As the companions of the angels
We’ll return to our city
We are pure as the gem, not compared to the dust
What we are doing here, let’s pack our belongings and go
Our luck is still young and death is our profession
Our leader is Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
I seek my survival in Your compassion
Am I ever deceived by the material world?
I used to have thousands of dreams
Yet Your love made them null for me
You are my comfort upon my suffering
You are the treasure in my poverty
I’m prostrating and praying to You
Saying that Your love is everything to me
