Palm trees feed mat weaving industry

Mat weaving is practiced in the south of Iran as a source of income and as an expression of art.

The palm tree is a sacred and popular tree of Khuzestan, especially with the Arabs of Khuzestan.

In addition to the variety of food that this blessed tree has from its product, which is dates, rural women use the dried leaves of this tree to prepare brooms, all kinds of dishes and mats, which has become famous as a local handicraft (mat weaving).
