Feast your eyes on 6 thrilling movies in Iran

As of Wednesday morning, theaters in Iran have played host to six thrilling Iranian movies.

This marks the second wave of releases this year for Iranian cinema productions, expected to significantly boost the summer box office.

Film releases began on a high note with impressive Nowruz screenings in Iran. Despite expectations of a slowdown during the holy month of Ramadan, the opposite occurred, with cinemas hosting a large audience who came after they opened their fast at sunset. 

Here is some information on each of these 6 movies you can watch in Iranian cinemas. 

1. 'Leather Jacket Man'

Hossein Mirzamohammadi's highly anticipated creation, 'Leather Jacket Man', was first unveiled at the 2023 Fajr Festival to much popular acclaim.

With Mohammad Hossein Mahdavian serving as the director's advisor, and Javad Ezzati cast as the lead, expectations for the film's box office success are high.

This ten-time Simorgh award-nominated film ultimately won the coveted Crystal Simorgh Award for Best Supporting Actress, boasting a star-studded cast including Saber Abar, Gelareh Abbasi, and Pantea Panahiha. 

2. 'The Night Guardian'

After a four-year hiatus from the box office, Reza Mirkarimi has made a triumphant return to cinemas with 'The Night Guardian'.

This highly-anticipated film debuted at the Fajr festival and received nine nominations, eventually winning Best Director.

Boasting an all-star cast, including the late Kiumars Pourahmad in a short but crucial role, as well as Mohsen Kiaei, Touraj Alvand and Laleh Marzban, 'The Night Guardian' promises to be a captivating and riveting showcase of Mirkarimi's directorial prowess.

3. 'City of Hert' (Snake Pit)

Karim Amini, the brilliant mind behind the hilarious comedy 'Fossil', is set to achieve yet another remarkable feat with his latest flick 'City of Hert'. The film boasts an exceptional cast led by the incredibly talented actor Pejman Jamshidi, with the impeccable performances of Shabnam Moghadami, and Babak Karimi, and the inclusion of a classic piece by famed Iranian singer Abbas Qaderi.

'City of Hert' promises to be an uproarious comedy.

4. 'People's Wedding'

Four years ago, Majid Tavakkoli started shooting the social drama of 'People's Wedding', bringing to life social issues in his film.

Since then, this masterpiece has cultivated much interest for enthusiasts of the genre.

Starring Nazanin Bayati, Shakib Shajareh, Zahra Davoudnejad and Khosro Bamdad, this movie promises a captivating story.

5. 'Imagine'

Ali Behrad's debut movie is one of the most promising movies of the year for Iranian cinema. Last year, the movie premiered at the Cannes Critics' Week and was greeted with a great reception.

In this film, Leila Hatami and Mehrdad Seddiqian experience different roles, adding to the audience's anticipation of watching this movie.

6. 'Family Inheritance'

The latest comedy film, 'Family Inheritance', directed by Hamed Razi, is currently in limited release in theaters.

The movie has generated high expectations due to the presence of the talented actor Mohammad Motevaselani as the male lead.

The movie also features an impressive cast, including Mahshid Afsharzadeh, Mehran Zeyghami, Kimia Gilani, Saed Hedayati, Khashayar Rad and Ali Kazemi.
