‘Zalava’ taking part in Shanghai festival

Iranian feature ‘Zalava’ is taking part in the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China.

‘Zalava’ has been selected to be screened in the Spectrum-Midnight Fantasy category of the Chinese event.

Directed by Arsalan Amiri, the film is about a military officer who investigates claims of villagers that there is a demon among them.

But anger escalate in the village named Zalava as Masoud arrests an exorcist on charges of fraud.

The film is co-written by Amiri, Ida Panahandeh and Tahmineh Bahramalian.

‘Zalava’ previously won the grand prize at the 36th Venice International Film Critics’ Week.

The Shanghai International Film Festival is one of the largest film festivals in Asia.

The 25th edition of the SIFF will kick off on June 9 and run until 18.
