Entitled ‘Lines from the Orient: Images, Objects, and Calligraphies from Asia', the exhibition offers an impressive collection that encompasses various works from different countries including Iran, China, Korea, Japan, India, Nepal and Turkey.
The showcased calligraphic masterpieces feature diverse languages such as Persian, Sanskrit, Urdu, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, and Turkish.
They are predominantly presented on materials like wood, palm leaves, rice paper, and bamboo paper, as highlighted by the organizers.
Guiding visitors through a fascinating journey into the realm of calligraphy and imagery, the exhibition encompasses five sections, showcasing palm leaf prayer books and Mughal miniatures among other artistic treasures.
Running from July 22 to October 15, the exhibition is hosted at the La Imprenta Municipal-Artes del Libro, a museum dedicated to the graphic arts and history of books.
Established in 2011, the museum occupies a space of 3,500 square meters across three floors.
Its primary mission revolves around preserving and disseminating the cultural heritage of graphic arts, printing techniques, and bookbinding.
