Hamed-Saqaian to preside over Fadjr Theater Festival

Mehdi Hamed-Saqaian, a theater expert and scholar, has been named to preside over the 42nd edition of Fadjr International Theater Festival in Iran.

The director of the General Office for Dramatic Arts at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Kazem Nazari, appointed Mehdi Hamed-Saqaian as the secretary of the upcoming edition of FITF, Fars News Agency reported Sunday.

Hamed-Saqaian replaces Kourosh Zarei, who was the president of the 41st edition of the festival.

Hamed-Saqaian, 57, participated in the organizing of a number of festivals in Iran and abroad.

He previously served on the jury of Fadjr International Theater Festival as well as Iran’s International University Theater Festival.

The annual Fadjr International Theater Festival was established in the early 1980s.

It features local and international theatrical works and performances.

The Fajr festivals, that also include visual arts, film, and music events, coincide with the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The Fadjr International Theater Festival takes place in January.
