Over 7,000 international films apply for TISFF

More than 7,000 films from different countries have applied to attend the Oscar-qualifying Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) in Iran.

The prestigious Iranian short film event received an astonishing 7,216 film submissions from 131 countries by the August 10 deadline for submission.

Most of the international films that seek to take part in the festival are from Spain, India, France, the US and China.

TISFF will announce the lineup for its international section by late August.

The fest, which is organized by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS), is one of the oldest short film festivals not only in Iran but also in the region, according to the event’s website.

The festival is a member of the International Short Film Conference (ISFC).

In 2021, TISFF was inscribed on the list of Oscar-qualifying film festivals.

The 40th edition of TISFF, headed by Mehdi Azarpendar, takes place on October 19-24.
