Iranian movie star turns into padel player

In a crossover between sports and cinema, an Iranian movie star Mohammad Reza Golzar has joined the board of the Padel Tennis Federation in Iran.

Padel tennis, also known as platform tennis, is a racquet sport with elements of tennis, squash, and badminton.  

The Tennis Federation of Iran announced the movie star as the latest addition to the padel federation in the country. 

Golzar, a famed enthusiast of the game, said in a meeting, “I love padel; I train 6 days a week!”

He added, “Despite my reservations, my passion for sports, specifically for padel, drove me to accept this offer to join the board. I remain steadfastly committed to my promise."

The renowned actor first gained fame as a guitarist in a popular music band named Aryan.

He made his cinematic debut with Iraj Qaderi’s 'Sam and Narges' in 2000 and gained nationwide fame as an actor in movies such as 'The Last Supper', 'Poisonous Honey', 'Coma', 'Boutique', and 'Ice Flower'.

He has acted in blockbusters such as 'Ceasefire', 'Flying Crow', 'Crazy for Leili', 'Six and Five', 'You and I', 'Atomic-Heart Mother', and 'Salaam Mumbai'.
