Isfahan to host children’s fest in October

The 36th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth (ICFF) is set to open in the central city of Isfahan on October 5, 2024.

This year, the festival has introduced conditions that allow young filmmakers to participate and have their works compete alongside other productions, according to the festival's secretary, quoted by ISNA on Wednesday.

Despite previous positive steps taken for children's and youth cinema, the director of the festival Majid Zeinolabedin noted that this sector urgently needs a strategic support plan.

He emphasized the necessity for appropriate cultural funds to be allocated to this cinema.

Zeinolabedin also highlighted the importance of facilitating film viewing for families, alongside children and youth attending the festival.

Additionally, he mentioned that incentive mechanisms should be established to support selected Iranian films at the public screening stage.

Established in 1982, the ICFF is an annual film festival held in the historic city of Isfahan, Iran.

Organized by the Iranian Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs, Farabi Cinema Foundation, and the Municipality of Isfahan, the festival shows a wide range of quality feature, short, and animation films from around the globe.

Alongside the film screenings, daily workshops, panels, and lectures are conducted by renowned Iranian and international cinematic figures.

The ICFF aims to bring children closer to culture, art, and ethical values such as family unity, respect for humanity, self-esteem, social responsibility, environmental concerns, and love for the earth.

Also, it seeks to create awareness of the future challenges that coming generations will potentially encounter.
