The award was presented to Peyman Jebeli, the head of IRIB, during the 61st ABU News Festival.
Alireza Sharifi, the Deputy for Media Development and Technology, received the award on behalf of Jebeli.
IRIB earned this recognition for launching 208 local election networks on Iran's digital terrestrial television platform.
This national project was implemented ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections, providing each of the 208 electoral constituencies with a dedicated local television channel for candidate promotions.
The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, with 280 members from 57 countries and an audience of over 3 billion across the region, is recognized as the largest and most extensive broadcasting organization in the world. IRIB is also regarded as one of the most active members of this union.
The 61st Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) News Festival was held in Istanbul, Turkey, from October 18 to 23, 2024, under the theme "Connecting Artificial Intelligence, Media Broadcasting, and Society".
The festival aims to explore ways to leverage new technologies in broadcasting content delivery.
During the festival, judging for the television and radio categories took place from September 10 to 14, with Fatemeh Javahersaz, the director of iFilm English TV channel, serving as a jury member, alongside representatives from Turkey, China, Japan, Brunei, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
