Iran actress to judge at Urban Filmfest

Celebrated Iranian actress Roya Teimourian is to judge at the International Urban Film Festival.

Roya Teimourian, Rahman Seifi Azad and Behrouz Shoeibi have been selected to judge at the video films section of the festival.

11 films are to compete at the video competition section of th event. 

Bron in 1960, Roya Teimourian graduated in Theater Acting and Directing from Faculty of Fine Arts at Tehran University. She went on to receive a Ph.D. in Art.

She began acting in television with the drama series 'Rana' (1988-1990) and in 1994 she appeared in the film 'Yearning to See You'.

While she has mostly acted in plays, her performance in the movie 'Rain Man (Barani)' (1999) saw her nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at both the International Fajr Film Festival and the Iran Cinema Celebration Awards. In 2002, she won a Golden Statuette at the Iran Cinema Celebration Awards for 'Women’s Prison' (2000).

In 2003, she was nominated for 'Poisonous Mushroom' (2001) and 'Tick' (2001) at the Iran Cinema Celebration Awards. In 2006, she was nominated for a Cinema Celebration Award for 'Café Setareh' (2004) and a Crystal Simorgh for 'The Earring' (2006).

Teimourian has some experiences in poetry and story writing as well.

She has appeared in movies such as 'The Legion' (1998), 'Sharareh' (1999), 'Saint Mary' (2000), 'Bid Majnoun' (2004), 'City of Chaos' (2005), 'Homeland' (2008), and 'Snow' (2013).

She has acted in series including 'Enemy of People'  (1994), 'A Phantom in Darkness’ (1995), 'Missing' (1998), 'The Trial' (1998-1999), 'The Tenth Night' (2001), 'Zero Degree Turn' (2007), 'Shams-ol-Emareh' (2009), 'A Piece of Land' (2012), and 'Remembrance' (2013).
