'‘100 Works, 100 Artists’ exhibit big hit'

The ongoing Tehran exhibition ‘100 Works, 100 Artists’ has exceeded earnings compared to its previous edition, directors says.

The ‘100 Works, 100 Artists’ exhibition showcasing works by 257 contemporary artists broke the sales record of the preceding edition, according to the director of Tehran’s Golestan Gallery, Lili Golestan.

“This year’s edition has made me extremely happy. The young artists managed to sell a high number of their works – almost 70% of the total sale,” she said.

The current event opened on July 21 and accomplished the record-breaking feet after only two weeks.

The ongoing exhibition launched in 1992 and remains the country’s oldest visual arts event.

The first edition of the event was held with exactly 100 artists.

The Tehran event continues to offer quality works by reputable artists, focusing on the economics of art.

Notable works that have sold at the gallery are from famous artists such as Mahmoud Javadipour (1920-2012), Nasser Oveysi, Farideh Lashai (1944-2013) and Ali Taraqijah (1943-2010).
