Iran-Tajikistan film marks iFilm collab.

Iran-Tajikistan joint film ‘Fish on the Hook’ has been unveiled in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

In a celebration of shared cultural heritage, the feature film ‘Fish on the Hook’ was unveiled on Sunday at the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Conference Center.

The film was made with key collaborators from Iran, including iFilm TV channel under the IRIB’s World Service and the Sikaap Company, along with Tajikistan’s Dov Film and Tajikfilm studios.

The ceremony brought together official and cultural figures such as the head of IRIB, Peyman Jebelli, the president of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature, Gholamali Haddad Adel, head of the IRIB World Service, Ahmad Nowrouzi, and Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Tehran, Nizamuddin Zahedi, along with the film’s cast, crew, artists from cinema and television, and some IRIB managers and staff.

In the ceremony, Jebelli described the film as the first joint production between iFilm and Tajikistan, aligning with IRIB’s transformative goals and focus on collaborations with Persian-speaking countries.

He praised the close collaboration between Iranian and Tajik crews behind the camera, even though filming took place in Tajikistan, calling it a strength of the project.

“We promise to deliver more joint works with Tajikistan, leveraging the beautiful geographies of both countries,” Jebelli added.

He also thanked the IRIB World Service and iFilm, noting the film’s sweet story set against Tajikistan’s stunning landscapes.

‘Fish on the Hook’, directed by acclaimed Tajik filmmaker Muhiddin Muzaffar and originally written by Bakhtiyar Karimov, is a 2025 joint production by producers Amir Tajik and Muzaffar.

The film follows a ten-year-old boarding school student who must make a fateful decision that could change his life forever.

This collaboration exemplifies how iFilm and partners are fostering cinematic ties, promoting Persian-language stories and family values across borders.
