Iran-China joint film attends FIFF

The Fajr International Film Festival hosts the press conference for 'Chang'an, Xi'an', the first Iran-China co‑production, with the film’s Beijing‑based director Zhang Zhong in attendance.

The director highlighted the project as a milestone cultural collaboration between the two ancient civilizations, noting that the film takes its title from the historic Chinese city of Xi’an, once a major hub along the Silk Road.

He emphasized the key role of Iranian filmmaker Narges Abyar, who wrote the screenplay in Persian before it was translated into Chinese. He praised her for crafting a female‑centered narrative with nuanced emotional and social depth.

According to Zhang, the film follows three parallel storylines, with the main plot anchored in a love story. 

The 43rd Fajr International Film Festival is being held in the Iranian city of Shiraz.
