Tehran street named after Mother of Iran Cinema

On the 31st passing anniversary of Roqayyeh Chehrehazad, the veteran Iranian actress widely remembered for the film 'Mother', a street has been named in her honor.

The street is located at the intersection of Villa (Nejat-ollahi) street in Tehran.

Chehrehazad is often referred to as the 'Mother of Iranian Cinema' due to her iconic role in Ali Hatami's film.

Naming a street after her is a tribute that immortalizes her contribution in the urban landscape of Tehran.

The late actress won a Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress in a Leading Role at Fajr International Film Festival at the age of 81 for her performance in ‘Mother’.

She was the oldest actress to win the award. The actress passed away on December 31, 1995 at the age of 87.
