Renowned Iranian actress Mahnaz Afshar lands a role in Tina Pakravan’s ‘Los Angeles-Tehran’.
Before Afshar, another Iranian actress Mahaya Petrosian recently signed on to play in the film.
‘Los Angeles-Tehran’ is currently in the pre-production stage and other cast of the movie will be introduced in the future.
Born in 1977 in Tehran, Mahnaz Afshar completed a film-editing course at the Hannaneh Cultural Institute in Tehran, Iran.
She began acting with the series 'Missing' in 1998, and later appeared in the series 'Love is not Closed' (2014).
In 1999, Afshar made her film debut with 'Friends'. She found nationwide fame after appearing in 'Passion of Love' (2000) and 'Coma' (2003).
She has acted in other movies, including 'Grey' (2000), 'Poisonous Honey' (2002), 'Girl in a Cage' (2002), 'Season Salad' (2004), 'Who Killed Amir?' (2005), 'Aquarium' (2005), 'Ceasefire' (2005), 'The Boss' (2006), 'Reflection' (2007), 'Invitation' (2008), 'Adam's Son, Eve's Daughter' (2009), 'A Simple Romance' (2011), 'No One, Nowhere' (2012), 'Metropol' (2013), and 'Sperm Whale' (2015).
The Iranian Society of Film Critics and Writers launded the actress for appearance in 'The Third Floor' (2009).
In 2011, the actress was praised for 'Saadat Abad' (2010), gaining the Fajr International Film Festival Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
A year later, her appearance in 'Snow on the Pines' (2011) won Afshar the Crystal Simorgh and Fajr Festival’s Diploma of Honors for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
