Iranian drama ‘Kupal’ by Kazem Mollai has been scheduled to vie at the 14th edition of the Jameson CineFest International Film Festival in Miskolc, Hungary.
The Iranian flick will go on screen at the official competition section of the Hungarian event.
‘Kupal’ narrates the story of Dr. Ahmad Kupal, who is a taxidermist hunter, as he faces a challenge just before the New Year.
“You cannot be alone in the world,” Mollai, noted, giving a clue to the philosophical origin of the film, adding that, “The world is a strange place. Here, whoever shoots is the one who gets killed.”
Notable cast members of the film include Levon Haftvan, Nazanin Farahani, Pouria Rahimi Sam, Hossein Shamsabadi, Vahan Salimzadeh and Mitra Asiaee.
Mollai’s feature film debut also attended the competitive section of Fajr Film Festival in February.
It won the best feature award at the ‘Around’ film festival in Amsterdam last month.
Iranian director Mohammad Farahani’s short film ‘From Hasaki with Love’ will also go on screen at the event.
The film is about a girl whose family members have been murdered. She decided to burn herself in front of a webcam to show her protest to the ongoing massacre.
Since the first CineFest in 2004, the Miskolc International Film Festival is on a very hopeful way to become a major Central European film event. Jameson CineFest annually attracts thousands of film fans and visitors from around the world.
The 14th edition of the Jameson CineFest (Miskolc International Film Festival) is slated for September 8-17, 2017.
