The 13th edition of the Action On Film (AOF) International Film Festival in Monrovia, California, has screened Iranian film ‘Abji’ (The Sis) directed by Marjan Ashrafizadeh.
Ashrafizadeh’s first feature film went on screen at the Iranian section of the AOF to make its tenth appearance in an international event.
‘Abji’ narrates the story of two women who have lived together for more than 50 years, but the situation does not remain the same and the separation time arrives.
Co-written by Marjan Ashrafizadeh, Ali Asghari and Nahid Tabatabai, the movie deals with the issues related to women and the difficulties they face in life.
“Tala and Ati (Sis) are a mother and daughter who have lived together for many years; almost 50 years, as long as the life of Sis. Their situation, however, does not last long, and the days of separation arrive. The separation happens when Ati depends heavily on her mother due to her special conditions, and Tala is trying to provide security for Ati's future in the remaining time; a future without her presence,” its synopsis reads.
‘Abji’ has won the best feature film award at the 4th edition of the Afghanistan International Women Film Festival.
Golab Adineh, Masoumeh Qasemipour, Pantea Panahiha, Hamidreza Azarang, Babak Hamidiyan and Shirin Yazdanbakhsh are the main stars of ‘Abji’.
Founded in 2004, the Action On Film International Film Festival, also known as the Action On Film Festival, is a film festival held in several different cities in California.
Opened on August 17 in Monrovia, the 13th edition of AOF came to an end on Saturday, August 26, 2017.
