Iran film to vie at Portugal

Iranian animation ‘The Servant’ is to vie at the 2017 edition of Cinanima film festival in Portugal.

Directed by Farnoush Abedi, the animation will be screened at the competition section of the 41st edition of the Portuguese event.

‘The Servant’ is to compete with works from Portugal, Estonia, Australia, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, US, Canada, France, Japan, Poland and China.

The animation received the Best Animation Film certificate at the FRESCO Int’l Festival of Modern Art and Spiritual Films in Armenia.

‘The Servant’ also won Best Animation Award of the 40th edition of the Elche International Independent Film Festival, recently held in Spain.

The animation narrates the familiar story of a master and his servant, the story of a writer’s encounter with a gigantic insect, a cockroach.

The cockroach becomes a servant but gradually begins to realize that it deserves better conditions, so it tries to turn the table and change the game to its own favor.

The man, however, attempts to preserve the current situation but soon realizes that the game has no rules.

First launched on 1976, Cinanima is an animation film festival organized in Portugal.

Since its first edition, the event has been developing a regular activity divulging this form of cinema - animation.
