Two Iran films to vie at US

Two Iranian short films are to vie at the Mill Valley Film Festival in the US.

Alireza Ghasemi’s ‘Lunch Time’ and ‘Not Yet’ by Arian Vazir Daftari are the films that are to vie at the 40th edition of the American event.

The 15-minute ‘Lunch Time’ is about a high school girl who attends a hospital to identify her mother's dead body. The people in charge at the hospital would not let her into the morgue because of her young age.

‘Lunch Time’ has participated at 70 international film festivals approved by Oscar Academy Awards. It has also attended the competition section of Cannes Film Festival.

The 15-minute ‘Not Yet’ is about Hasti who has just turned 21. She studies abroad and her parents in Iran want to congratulate her online.

The short film had its national premiere at the 33rd edition of the Tehran Short Film Festival in November 2016 in Iran, winning the award for best fiction.

Founded in 1977, Mill Valley Film Festival is an eleven-day, internationally acclaimed cinema event presenting a wide variety of new films from around the world in an engaged, community setting.

The 40th edition of the festival is to be launched on October 5-15, 2017 in California.
