Tehran Beautification Organization (TBO) has called on mural artists to paint select capital city walls in a bid to beautify the city with landmark artworks.
The TBO in affiliation with Tehran Municipality has recently asked on visual artists and practitioners in other areas of art to submit their ideas for a series of murals to be painted or installed on specific city walls.
Enthusiasts are invited to personally submit their plans to the event secretariat at the TBO’s Culture and Urban Arts Department. Plans will only be accepted on January 30 and 31, with each artist being able to submit a maximum of 10 plans.
Submission forms are also available on the website zibasazi.ir.
Selected works will be announced on February 3.
The jury panel includes painter and video artist Khosrow Khosravi; illustrator, graphic designer, art director Kianoush Gharibpour; painter, sculptor, illustrator and caricaturist Mohammad Ali Baniasadi; and painters Kazem Chalipa, Ali Zakeri and Mohammad Reza Qorbani Aqdam.
Since 2004, around 800 murals in Tehran have been commissioned, of which over 100 were all painted by the same person, Medhi Ghadyanloo.
