A theatrical festival titled ‘Ashura to Arbaeen’ is to be organized in Iran all through the country starting after the 10th of Muharram (October 2nd).
‘Ashura to Arbaeen’ is scheduled to include 34 stage theater performances and 10 street theater performances and is slated to continue all the way to the end of Safar (November 19th).
The theatrical festival that commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in Karbala will revolve around subjects such as Quran, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Shia Imams (AS) and other influential personalities in the Islamic history.
Each year, Muslims across the globe mark martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) on Ashura Day which falls on the 10th of the Islamic lunar month of Muharram. This year Ashura coincides with today October 1st, 2017.
