Canada critic praises Iran actress film

Canadian film critic Janet Smith, who sits on the Vancouver Film Critics Circle, commends Iranian actress Niki Karimi's production ‘Azar’.

Iran movie ‘Azar’ directed by Mohammad Hamzei has been well-received by the Canadian critic, who recently penned her thoughts in a text titled ‘VIFF 2017: A woman delivers pizza alone at night in Azar’.

“She works hard at her husband’s pizza joint, but when tragedy strikes, she struggles to run it alone,” Smith said of the feature.

Smith goes on to praise Niki Karimi’s performance as the struggling woman in the film.

‘Azar’ is Iranian actress Niki Karimi’s second production after ‘Night Shift’ while she has also directed three other movies so far.

Niki Karimi, Hamidreza Azarang, Farid Sajjadi Hosseini, Shirin Aghakashi Hasti Mahdavi, Leila Zare, Maedeh Tahmasbi, Pejman Jamshidi and Houman Seyyedi are among the movie's cast.

Most recently, ‘Azar’ has been selected to be shown at Panorama stream of the 2017 Vancouver International Film Festival, which began last week.
