Turkey to host Iran short film

Iranian short film ‘Animal’ has been set to vie at the Izmir Short Film Festival in Turkey.

Directed by Bahman and Bahram Ark,‌ ‘Animal’ will take part at the competition section of the 18th edition of the Turkish event.

The short film is to compete with films from Macedonia, Belgium, Poland, Greece, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and France.

The 15-minute ‘Animal’ is about a man who wants to pass the border unlawfully; so he hunts a ram and decides to escape disguised as the animal.

‘Animal’ has participated at many international film festivals in various countries.

Ark brothers’ film won the second prize in the Cinéfondation category at the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Alaleh Izadi’s ‘Dispirited’ is Iran’s other representative at the Izmir festival.

The International Izmir Short Film Festival is the largest event of its kind in Turkey, and the first to award prizes to international short films.

Since its inauguration in 2000, it has become one of the country’s most prestigious film festivals, drawing many respected film figures from beyond Turkey’s borders.

The festival is slated to be held on November 7-12, 2017.
