Iran author nominated for Swedish award

Iranian author Houshang Moradi-Kermani has been nominated to win the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in Sweden.

Born in 1944 in the Iranian province of Kerman, the celebrated Iranian children’s author Moradi-Kermani has been nominated for the 2018 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, a prestigious Swedish honor to promote children’s and youths’ literature in the world.

Iran’s Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults has introduced the prominent writer to the Swedish event.

For his lasting contribution as a children's writer, he has previously been a finalist in 2014 for the international biennial of Hans Christian Andersen Award, the highest recognition available to creators of children's books.

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is an international children's literary award established in 2002 to honor the Swedish children's author Astrid Lindgren who passed away in 2002 at the age of 94.

The award’s main goal is to increase interest in the literature related to children and young people, and to promote children's rights to culture on a global level.
