Iran Ambassador calls for enhanced cinema ties with India

Iran ambassador to India has called for boosting cinema ties with the subcontinent nation.

Addressing the audience at the 1st Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF), Gholamreza Ansari pointed to the small number of joint productions among the two nations, saying more needs to be done given the cultural resemblance.

The Iranian Ambassador pushed for both the public and private sectors in the two countries to join hands and cooperate more in movie production.

He stressed that focus needs to be on the good side of social, political and economic arenas, he expressed hope that the mutual collaboration would yield a bulky plus.

Iran and India produced ‘Hello Mumbai’ their first joint flick in 2016.

Ghorban Mohamadpour, the Iranian director wrote the screenplay and directed the film and the cast list included Iranian super star Mohammad Reza Golzar and singer Benyamin Bahadori, as well as Indian actors Dia Mirza, Gulshan Grover and Dalip Tahil. 

The movie has been dubbed in three languages of Persian, Hindi and English.

The festival kicked off on October 28 in Guwahati, Assam and will wrap up on November 2, 2017.
