Iranian animation ‘The Orangish Tree’ has brought home a top prize from the Istanbul International Architecture and Urban Film Festival in Turkey.
The animated short film directed by Amir-Houshang Moein won the first place prize at the 11th edition of the Istanbul International Architecture and Urban Film Festival, which was held on October 23-28.
‘The Orangish Tree’ narrates the story of a girl who lives in an orange tree and travels above the clouds to revive the tree.
A narrative mode is used to portray an individual’s point of view, transcribing the author’s unconscious dialogue during sleep, in connection to his or her actions within a dream.
Iranian animation ‘Switchman’, directed by Mehdi Khoramian, was also in the final competition of the festival but was not awarded.
‘The Orangish Tree’ and ‘Switchman’ have both been produced by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center of Iran.
