Kish to host short film festival

The Persian Gulf island of Kish in Iran will host the 2nd edition of the National Short Film Festival Mowj (Wave).

The Mowj Festival will consist of three sections, including fiction, animated and documentary films with a focus on either the Resistance Economy or the beauty of Kish Island.

Filmmakers have until February 3 to submit their work, which must not be longer than 30 minutes.

On March 3, a total of 60 short films will be selected for the competition section. Winners will be awarded at the closing ceremony on March 5.

The festival secretariat has received over 400 short films since the beginning of the call for submissions on December 5.

Films will be evaluated by a selection committee.

The Resistance Economy is a set of recommendations by Iran Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in order to help underpin the domestic economy by boosting productivity and buying home-made goods instead of foreign products.

Last February, 65 films were selected from 850 works for submission in the first edition of the Mowj Festival.
