Iranian films ‘Daughter’ and ‘Duet’ have won three awards at the PIFFA Supreme Awards in Malaysia.
Nominated for 11 awards in the event, ‘Daughter’ directed by Reza Mirkarimi bagged two awards.
Mahour Alvand grabbed the best actress award for her brilliant appearance in ‘Daughter’, while Farhad Aslani owned the best actor award.
‘Daughter’ narrates the story of a young girl leaving her hometown in southern Iran, without the consent of her father, on a half-day trip to attend a close friend's farewell party. On the way back, hazy weather changes all she's planned.
Also Iranian short film ‘Duet’ directed by Navid Danesh won the special jury award at the event.
The main objective of PIFFA 2017 is to recognize the film crew and people working behind the scenes in the film industry for their hard work that they have put in to yield a finished product that could be enjoyed by not only Malaysians, but also the international screen.
The festival was held on November 4-6, 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
