The 2nd edition of the Cuzco Underground Cinema Festival (CUCIF) in Peru has shortlisted five Iranian titles in five different categories.
The Iranian representative in the final list of the Feature Film category at the Peruvian event is ‘Abscess’ co-directed by Armin Tahmasbi and Ali Bateni.
‘Abscess’ is an experimental film that deals with a young couple whose lives are deeply affected by addiction and drug abuse. Each new day in their troubled life gets darker until they decide to find a way out of their predicament.
The cast list includes Ali Ardalan, Sousan Azizollahi, Asef Rasouli, Tina Mousavi, Roya Qanbari, Raouf Rezai, Rasoul Mohammadi, Sepanta Sokouti, Amin Mohseni, Alireza Ahmadi, Saeed Jafari, Majid Ahmadi and Arman Tahmasbi.
‘The Man Who Forgot To Breathe’ by Saman Hosseinpour in the Fiction Short Film category, ‘Arbaab’ (Master) by Sajjad Soleymani in the Documentary Short Film category, ‘The Man Who Wasn’t Here’ by Ata Mojabi in the Experimental Short Film category, and ‘Flying Dream’ by Mohammad-Ali Soheili in the Animation Short Film category are the other Iranian titles at the final list of the festival.
The CUCIF is an independent film festival that takes place in the beautiful and touristic city of Cuzco, southeast of Peru, recognized as the historical capital of that nation and which houses millennia of Inca culture.
The inhabitants of the whole department can enjoy good world cinema, projected on walls that have centuries of culture, which gives the festival a particular historical and cultural connotation.
The 2nd edition of the CUCIF has been set for November 8-12, 2017.
