Barcelona fest screens 10 Iran titles

The 5th edition of the Barcelona Asian Film Festival in Spain has screened ten films by Iranian directors.

The festival screened ‘Bench Cinema’ by Mohammad Rahmanian as the opening film of the event on November 2nd, 2017, in Caixaforum.

The 117-minute movie is a comedy drama about a film lover who memorizes all the lines a great collection of classic films and then travels around to perform the films as a one man show on a bench.

‘Mina’s Option’ by Kamal Tabrizi and ‘Stolen’ by Bijan Mirbaqeri in NETPAC competition section, ‘Sara & Aida’ by Maziar Miri in Official section, as well as ‘Qashang & Farang’ by Vahid Mousaeian and ‘A House on 41st’ by Hamid-Reza Qorbani in the Panorama section were in the Iranian lineup.

The festival also screened ‘Houra’ by Gholamreza Sagharchian and ‘Cyanide’ by Behrouz Shoeibi in the Discoveries section as well as ‘Until Ahmad Returns’ by Sadeq Sadeq-Daqiqi and ‘The Dream of Water’ by Farhad Mahranfar in the Special section.

Titles from Iran, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, and Thailand took part the festival.

This edition of the festival was organized in seven sections: Official Section, Panorama Section, NETPAC Section, Discoveries Section, Special Section, Retrospective Section, and a short film program.

The 5th edition of the Barcelona Asian Film Festival has been slated for November 2-12, 2017.
