An Iranian artist has gained recognition for her works at a children’s award event in the US state of Michigan.
Iranian illustrator Hoda Haddadi brought home the gold medal for best illustrator at the 11th Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards, which was held in Michigan’s Traverse City on Saturday.
Her illustrations for ‘Drummer Girl’, a book written by Pakistani author Hiba Masood, won her the gold medal from the US event.
‘Drummer Girl’ tells the story of a young girl who wakes up the fasting people for the pre-dawn meal during Ramadan by beating a drum.
Haddadi also won the gold medal for best illustrator at the Literary Classics International Book Awards in July.
The Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards aims to increase recognition to exemplary children’s books and their creators, and are dedicated to supporting childhood literacy and life-long reading, according to the event’s website.
