ifilm’s feature film ‘Kimia’ scheduled to go on air November 18, 2017 narrates a story related to Iraq-Iran war with a focus on a female character.
Those who managed to watch Ahmad-Reza Darvish's ‘Kimia’ at the 13th Fajr Film Festival were all surprised. Darvish had made an all-out social drama with a theme on war. The director who showed his familiarity in his previous films with the ins and outs of cinema, now presents his full-fledged film.
Darvish was obliged to portray his observation of the events in Khorramshahr during the Iran-Iraq war. He knew people of war well, this filmmaker astonished everyone with ‘Kimia’ as he narrated a war story with a focus on a female leading character who did not have a gun in the style of Hollywood movies, moving on with perplexing motions. The woman in ‘Kimia’ was a mother who wanted to take a baby--a memento of Khorramshahr--to safe haven. Her duty was to preserve such heritage.
Some of the best actors in Iranian cinema played the film roles. Khosro Shakibaee besides Bita Farrahi and Reza Kianian completed the triangle of acting success.
At the end of the film, Kimia knows she belongs to all people loving her without overlooking where she stands in Iran history.
'Kimia', produced by Haroun Yashayaei and directed by Ahmad-Reza Darvish follows the story of Reza who has come back to Iran after being a prisoner of war in Iraq for nearly a decade. He was told that his wife and baby both died in childbirth, but the doctor who gives him the news is hiding a secret that could change both their lives.
The movie cast list includes Khosro Shakibaee, Bita Farrahi, Reza Kianian, Nader Rajabpour, Mehdi Sabbagh and Zahra Oveisi.
‘Kimia’, made in 1994, is scheduled to go on air at 22:00 GMT.
ifilm English will also repeat the movie the next day at 04:00, 10:00 and 16:00 (all GMT times).
