US filmfest pays tribute to Kiarostami

The 2017 edition of the Boston Festival of Films from Iran has paid tribute to late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami.

The festival screened one of Kiarostami’s masterpieces ‘The Taste of Cherry’ at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

The movie won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and is to be screened once again on Thursday.

The event will also screen ‘76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami’ a documentary directed by Kiarostami’s close collaborator, Seifollah Samadian.

Kiarostami was known as a multitalented artist and an exceptional man who joyfully embraced life.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

The cinematic works by the internationally acclaimed filmmaker have been hailed by various festivals around the world.

Several prestigious festivals and film events have already honored the noted Iranian director as well as paid homage to Kiarostami by presenting retrospectives of his works.

Iran’s iconic director, Kiarostami, died in July 2016 at the age of 76.
