Milan festival awards 2 Iran films

The competitive section of the 35th edition of the Sport Movies & TV Festival in Milan, Italy, has awarded two films from Iran.

Iran’s 15-minute ‘Are You Volleyball?!’ directed by Mohammad Bakhshi won a Guirlande of Honor award in the Movies category.

‘Are You Volleyball?!’ is about a group of Arab refugee who arrive at the border of an English speaking country and find the border closed. Refugees will have a clash with border security guards. Meanwhile some children will help the creation of a dialogue and communication between them.

The 2-minute film ‘The Reporter’ directed by Seyyed Mohammad-Reza Kheradmandan received an Honorable Mention in the Movies and TV Football category.

Kheradmandan’s short film tells the story of a boy who has only 100 seconds to report a children’s football match.

The secretary of Tehran International FICTS Festival Mojtaba Alavi and the representative of FICTS International Federation in Iran Amir Hosseini took the awards for the winners.

Iran had submitted 17 works to compete at the festival which included clip arts, TV shows, feature and short documentaries as well as short and feature films.

Founded in 1983, FICTS which stands for Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs is a federation of sports television, recognized by the International Olympic Committee. It promotes sport values through film and television.

Prominent figures from the worlds of sports, film and television, as well as The Culture and Tourism Minister of Italy Dario Franceschini and Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala attended the closing ceremony of the festival.

The 35th edition of the Sport Movies & TV Festival was held November 15-20 in Milan, Italy.
