‘Villas’ to join Fajr Festival debuts

ّFajr Film Festival debut 'Villas' about Iraq-Iran war is set to be shown at the latest edition of the event held in Iran.

The movie chronicles happenings to wives of Iran army commanders at the time of Iraq-Iran war. It is filmed in residential villas for army forces in southern Iran and set in Persian calendar years between1362 and 1363.

Placing among Fajr Festival movies featuring stories on Iran-Iraq war, 'Villas' is considered one of the most significant directorial debuts present at the event.

Making her feature directorial debut with ‘Villas’, Ms. Monir Qeidi has worked as a script supervisor as well as an assistant director on several films. She also made short films such as ‘ Girl, Boy and the Old Man’ and ‘On the Way to Villa’ as well as the documentary ‘Tehran, the City of Plane Trees’.

Saeed Malekan collaborated in the cinematic project as the movie producer. He attended the 34th Fajr Festival with ‘Life +1 Day’ and ‘My Brother Khosro’. The former has been named as the highest grossing social movies in Iran Cinema History.

The movie features Iranian star actress Tanaz Tabatabaee and highly represents female actors.

Established in 1982, Fajr Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 35th Fajr Film Festival will be held in February 2017.
