Iranian short film ‘Roof Knocking’ directed by Sina Salimi has succeeded to receive the Best Film Award from the 39th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) in Egypt.
In its first international appearance, ‘Roof knocking’ represented Iran at the Egyptian event and won the high ranking award.
“In war-stricken Palestine, a woman prepares a meal for her family to break the fast in the holy month of Ramadan. A phone call by an Israeli soldier alerts her of the bombing of her building in 10 minutes,” a short synopsis of the film read.
Founded in 1976, the CIFF is an annual film event held in the Egyptian capital city. It is the only international competitive film festival recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) in the Arab world.
The 39th edition of the CIFF took place on November 21-30, 2017.
