Miald Tower to host FFF opening ceremony

Tehran’s Miald Tower has been selected to host the opening ceremony of the 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival.

Iranian cineastes will gather at the tower on February 1 to open the most important annual cinematic event of the country, the organizers announced on Monday.

The opening ceremony will pay tribute to dubber Manouchehr Esmaeili, filmmaker Mohammad-Ali Najafi and actor Akbar Abdi with lifetime achievement awards.

Directed by Majid Barzegar, the ceremony will also honor a number of creators of top advertising materials, including trailers and film posters.

Milad Tower, also known as the Tehran Tower, is a multi-purpose tower and the tallest one in Iran.

Standing at 435 meters from the base to the tip of the antenna, the tower’s head consists of a large pod with 12 floors. Its roof has a height of 315 meters.

The tower is a part of the International Trade and Convention Center of Tehran, which also includes a five-star hotel, a convention center, a world trade center and an IT park.

Established in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.

The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival is slated for February 1-11, 2018, in Tehran.
