Hamid Nematollah’s drama ‘Subdued’ has won an award at the Jounieh International Film Festival in Lebanon.
The 104-minute film won the Best Narrative Award at the 2018 edition of the event.
‘Subdued’ is an emotional journey about Mina who is recently divorced from her drug addict husband. With her mother deceased and estranged from her father, she leads an independent life.
After finding a job in a restaurant, she strikes up a friendship with its attentive manager.
She begins to have feelings for him, which are eventually shared. However, when the manager begins to distance himself from her, a tumultuous emotional journey commences.
The movie, produced by Nematollah and written by Masoumeh Bayat, stars Leila Hatami, Kourosh Tahami, Hamid-Reza Azarang and Hossein Erfanian.
The Jounieh International Film Festival – JIFF is an international event conceived to promote cinema’s culture among the population by proposing a selection of feature films; narratives and documentaries, to be showcased during the festival.
This edition of the Lebanese film festival was held on January 17-22, 2018.
