Organizers of the 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival (FFF) have planned to pay tribute to late Iranian film producer Ali Moallem.
Holding a press conference on Tuesday, the secretary of the festival, Ebrahim Darughehzadeh said Moallem will be honored during the opening ceremony of the event at Tehran’s Miald Tower on Thursday.
He also unveiled the designed poster for the 36th FFF lifetime achievement honorees, including voice actor Manouchehr Esmaeili, filmmaker Mohammad-Ali Najafi and actor Akbar Abdi.
Moallem passed away after a heart attack in March 2017 in the Iranian capital city of Tehran at the age of 54.
He was managing director and editor-in-chief of Donya-ye-Tasvir (Picture World) magazine and produced several films, including ‘Hemlock’, ‘The River’s End’, ‘Marriage, Iranian Style’ and ‘Aal’.
Moallem served as jury member in several local and international film festivals.
The Iranian producer organized the 16th edition of ‘Hafez Celebration’, Iran’s only private ceremony to award the best of TV and cinema annually since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Established in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.
Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.
The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival is slated for February 1-11, 2018, in Iran.
