The 68th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in Germany has nominated Iranian film ‘Dressage’ for GWFF Best First Feature Award.
The Berlinale released the shortlist for its GWFF Best First Feature Award which contains titles from China, Japan, Iran, Chile and the US.
Directed by Pouya Badkoubeh, ‘Dressage’ tells the story of Golsa and her friends who, motivated primarily by boredom rather than greed, decide to rob a corner shop.
But while evaluating the steal, they are dismayed to realize that they forgot to take the security camera footage; so one of them must return to the crime scene and retrieve it.
The vote falls on Golsa, who bravely completes the mission. Her friends’ behavior makes her think, and she hides the hard drive somewhere secret.
But her accomplices and their well-to-do families put more and more pressure on Golsa, worried about their social standing.
Ali Mosaffa, Shabnam Moqaddami, Houshang Tavakkoli, Alireza Sanifar, Alireza Aqakhani, and Siamak Adib are among the cast list.
Founded in 1951, the Berlin International Film Festival is one of the world’s leading film events which is held in Germany and is celebrated annually in February.
The 68th edition of the Berlinale will run in the German city on February 15-25, 2018.
