The inauguration ceremony for the 36th edition of Fajr Film Festival has kicked off on Thursday evening.
Many renowned Iranian directors and thespians including Mohsen Kiaee, Mostafa Kiaee, Rasoul Sadr-Ameli, Linda Kiani, Masoud Dehnamaki, Pejman Bazeghi, Azadeh Zarei, Bahram Radan, Amin Hayaee and Hasan Pourshirazi were present at the event.
Mohammad-Ali Najafi, the Iranian minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance gave a short speech during the program.
Late Iranian filmmaker Ali Moallem was honored during the inauguration ceremony in the presence of his family.
‘Confiscation’, ‘In the Levant Time’, ‘Bomb, A Romantic’ and ‘Lottery’ were the movies that were warmly received by the audiences at the public screenings of the first day of the festival.
Established in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.
Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.
The event kicked off on February 1, 2018 and is due to go on until February 11.
