Four Iranians to judge at US filmfest

Four Iranians have been selected to judge at the second Globe International Silent Film Festival in the US.

Out of six jury members selected to judge in the US festival, four are Iranians, including Mohammad Hadadi, Sara Tabibzadeh, Amin Dehghan and Alireza Qasemi.

The second edition of the Globe International Silent Film Festival (GISFF) is scheduled to be held in the United States in April.

Initially launched by Iranian film buffs of the Persian Students Association of Michigan State University, the first edition of the Globe International Silent Film Festival was held in Iran last year.

The festival selection committee has started reviewing submissions and the selected films will be announced in the last week of January.

Iran’s House of Cinema and the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology supported the first edition of the festival in Iran last May.

The GISFF is planned to be held in a new country every year, so that the silent cinema industry is introduced to all enthusiasts.

Silent films refer to films without dialogue or narration and recount their story through the language of imagery, just as a painting.

The festival is to be held on April 3-5, 2017 in the US state of Michigan.
