Four Iranian films have been selected to screen at Germany’s prestigious Berlinale film festival.

The 68th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) is hosting four films from Iranian filmmakers during the 11-day event in the German capital.

Mani Haqiqi’s ‘Pig’, ‘Dressage’ by Pouya Badkoubeh, ‘Invasion’ directed by Shahram Mokri and Abbas Amini’s ‘Hendi & Hormoz’ are the Iranian participants of the event.

‘Pig’ depicts the story of Hassan, a filmmaker who has not been able to make any films lately, but his admired starlet can’t wait any longer and wants to leave and work with another director.

Among the ‘Pig’ stars are Hassan Majouni, Leila Hatami, Leili Rashidi, Parinaz Izadyar and Ali Baqeri.

‘Dressage’ tells the story of Golsa and her friends who, motivated primarily by boredom rather than greed, decide to rob a corner shop.

‘Invasion’ is a crime story about someone who has been murdered at a sports arena. The police has taken the murder suspect into custody and tries to find out the killing method.

‘Invasion’ has in the cast names such as Abed Abest, Babak Karimi, Elaheh Bakhshi and Levon Haftvan.

'Hendi & Hormoz' takes place on Iran’s Hormuz Island in the Persian Gulf, where hematite deposits in the soil turn the ocean waves blood-red. Teenage Hormoz is married to Hendi, three years his junior, after he promises that he can work as a miner. But the young man finds closed doors instead of a job, a short synopsis of the movie read.

Founded in 1951, the Berlin International Film Festival is one of the world’s leading film events which is held in Germany and celebrated annually in February.

The 68th edition of the Berlinale is slated for February 15-25, 2018.
