FIFF receives mass submissions so far

The main competition section of the 36th Fajr international festival will comprise of feature and short film categories, each with 15 movies.

A dozen foreign and three domestic productions will be featured in each of the two categories, feature and short films, of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) to be held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran in April.

So far, productions from 19 countries – namely from Italy, South Korea, Russia, China, England, Germany, France, Taiwan, India and Georgia – have been accepted for further review by the FIFF selection committee.

However, filmmakers have until March 21 to submit more productions for consideration into the April event.

The committee will announce the final line-up of accepted films after the submission is closed.

To be accepted in the festival, a foreign film must have not been shown in any Central Asian and Middle East festival. Regarding Iranian films, submissions should not have been screened in any foreign festival.  

A 7-member jury, comprising five foreign and two Iranian jurors, will evaluate the films in the competition section.

The winner of the Best Film category will receive the illustrious Golden Simorgh statuette, while five Silver Simorgh awards will go to winners in the categories of best directing, script, actor, actress and the best achievement in one of the technical fields of editing, score, cinematography, set and costume design.

The 36th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival is slated for April 19-27, 2018, in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
