‘Soheila No.17’ screens at Fajr Fest

Iranian social movie ‘Soheila No.17’ has been screened at the latest edition of Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

Competing at the 35 edition of Fajr Festival, Iran director Mohammad Ghafari’s movie was shown on Monday at Tehran Milad Tower as well as other cinema halls designated to popular screening of the film.

The movie narrates a thrilling story on a never-married girl, pushing 40, who has to tie the knots due to a medical condition.

Zahra Davoud Nejad and Babak Hamidian star in the movie.

Mohammad Ghafari’s latest movie vies at the Simorgh section of Fajr Festival.

Fajr Festivals are held annually in Iran during the Fajr Decade (literally meaning ten days of dawn), which marks the anniversary of the ten days from the return of Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic, to Iran (February 1) until the victory day of the Islamic Revolution (February 11) in 1979.

Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The screening sessions will last for 8 days from January 29 to February 9.
