Ammar fest to screen flicks in trench

Ammar Popular Filmfest is set to screen a number of select films in symbolic war trenches for visitors to Iran southern region.

The films will be shown at Ammar fest stalls, including symbolic trenches, during nationwide visits to the country’s southern parts which were under attack in the 1980’s Iraq-Iran war.

Rahian-e-Noor (Passengers of Light) is a covering term for popular trips organized to war zones in Iran which commemorates Iranian efforts and life losses in the Iraq imposed war on Iran.

The screenings under the name ‘Trench Cinema’ will wrap up during the Persian New Year (Nowruz) holidays starting from March 21, 2018.

The Ammar Popular Film Festival goes against promotion of “individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about the society's troubles and other human suppression,” the event’s official website noted.

The festival also enjoys an international version (AIPFF) which aims “to raise real awareness and responsibility among the general public,” the AIPFF website read, adding the event’s mission is to create an atmosphere in which independent filmmakers and thinkers can gather together.
