Iran animation vies in Canada filmfest

Maryam Khalilzadeh's 'Butterfly' has been competing at the Children's Film Festival in Canada.

'Butterfly' has vied in the English section of the 21st Festival International du Film Pour Enfants de Montreal (FIFEM) in Canada.

The 12-minute 'Butterfly' has competed with eight other English short films.

The winners have been said earlier to be announced on March 11, 2018.

The short animation narrates the story of a man who has the power to change 1001 girls into butterflies only with playing his magical musical instrument.

He, then, will be able to fly himself and learns he is in love with the last girl.

The mission of FIFEM is to train the movie lovers of tomorrow, by offering them a range of the best world youth cinema.

The festival aims to complement the school path, through educational activities that provide young people with the means to gain a visual understanding of cultures, traditions and experiences that may be foreign to them.

The FIFEM uses cinema as a tool to stimulate young people's curiosity, promote critical thinking and enlightened dialogue.

The 21st edition of the Festival International du Film Pour Enfants de Montreal in Canada took place on March 3-11, 2018.
