Iranian short film ‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ has been set to be screened at the 9th edition of Skepto International Film Festival in Italy.
Directed by Ahmad Zayery, the short film is to represent Iran at the Italian film event.
A brief synopsis for the film reads, 'Saad is a Syrian boy who loves football with big dreams. He loses his eyes and friends in a mortar explosion and because of that, he locks himself up at home. His mother, though, does so much to encourage him to go out again.'
The flick has so far bagged several awards including a second prize for Best Director and the jury's special mention for Best Film at the 14th edition of Manchester International Film Festival in the UK.
The Skepto International Film Festival has a competitive nature and it is open to short movies with no limits as to their subject, style or production budget.
It admits short films of all kinds, including documentaries, musical video-clips, video-arts, experimental short movies, fake trailers, new media formats, mobile videos, and so on.
The festival’s official website has announced that the jury has received more than 600 movies, with a wide range of genres, styles, themes and production budget.
The 9th edition of the Skepto International Film Festival is slated for April 18-21, 2018, in Cagliari, Italy.
